Custom Horse Portraits
Horses are such beautiful, spiritual looking animals. So graceful, yet strong looking too. As a pet portrait artist I have painted many horses and ponies in pastel or oils over the years. There are so many variations of horse paintings that can be painted.
A scene in a field or looking over the stable door. I have even painted a horse portrait in a beach scene. Very recently I have completed a commissioned painting of a horse with a little two year old boy. Horse and rider portraits are also popular too. Dressage, show jumping, equestrian as well as group portraits of two or more head study paintings. The famous equine painting “we three kings” is a popular composition if you want to have three horses in the one portrait (head studies).

Head/neck paintings can be done in any of the sizes. But if you would like a full body portrait then the larger sizes are recommended.
It is recommended to remove head collars and bridles if you do not want them in the portrait, however I can remove them if needed. Normally I work from photos that the client supplies. You may find my photo advice & commission process articles useful to read.
