I grew up with a cat called Tiger. He was a ginger tomcat and lived to be 24 years old! Cats can be so loving and want nothing more than to curl up with you, but also I know that some cats are more independent and want to be outside off exploring!

Each cat, whether a playful kitten or a majestic senior cat is unique and has a personality of its own. It is important to me that I show this in my cat portraits. See below a recent testimonial for a lovely cat painting that I did for a client in the USA.

Lorraine did the most amazing coloured portrait of my darling departed, 20 year old cat, Samson. It was incredibly lifelike and fully captured his essence; with a tear, looking at his portrait, I welcomed my boy home. Shortly after our cat Archie died I asked Lorraine to do his portrait. It is so stunning and the perfect reminder of a beloved pet gone too soon. Lorraine worked so hard to get him perfect. I then asked for a portrait of our dog Charlie as a surprise for my husbands birthday which I’m struggling to keep a secret as I keep sneaking a look at it. It’s just so beautiful. Lorraine has a wonderful way of capturing personality beautifully. She’s also the easiest person to contact and chat with, knows how important it is to get it right and is a complete professional. If only everyone was so easy to work with.

I commissioned a portrait of my dear cat Lulu from Lorraine, not long after I sadly lost him to cancer, aged 18. Lorraine’s pastel portrait of Lulu made me well up and shed tears, with sadness of his loss (boy cat, despite the name), but also with the joy of having such a glorious portrait to remember him by. Lorraine’s portraits are so lifelike; the pastels used to great effect to portray the fur, and that sparkle in the eyes. I can’t exaggerate enough how wonderful Lorraine’s pet portraits are! This is the tenth portrait I’ve commissioned, and I will go back again I’m sure. I’m thankful that I also live close enough to collect, and meet Lorraine in person. She’s an absolute talent with her pet portraits, and I’m in awe and so thankful that I found her all those years ago. This portrait is absolutely glorious, much like Lulu was. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I was absolutely thrilled with the portrait Lorraine did of my lovely cat, Rosie. This was the fourth painting I have commissioned , and every one has been a delight to receive. Lorraine seems to be able to capture the spirit of our precious pets, that special look and the light in their eyes. Rosie is a tortoishell cat, and Lorraine created the detail and texture that make her fur so special. Lorraine is always so helpful and accommodating, so that the whole process is a joy.
