I am delighted to show this gallery of these beautiful hand coloured etchings and engravings from the Thomas Ross Collection, created from paintings from past animal artists whose work I admire, dating back to the 18th and 19th century.
One of my favourite animal artists from the 19th century is Herbert Dicksee. I love the colour and light he used in his paintings.
Herbert Dicksee was born in London in 1862 into an artistic family. His father was John Robert Dicksee and four of his siblings were also to become known painters.
Herbert Dicksee himself was a painter of animals and historical genre scenes, but he was also an etcher and mezzotint engraver. He studied at the Slade School, later taught drawing at the City of London School and he exhibited his work at the Royal Academy from 1885-1904.
His best-known work depicted lions and other wildlife but he also produced work copied after other great contemporary artists, including his brother and Sir John Millais. Herbert Dicksee died in 1942.

About These Fine Art Prints |
 The collective term for these prints is Intaglio. This is one of the most traditional ways of creating fine art prints, and many experts agree, still the most satisfying. The hand colouring of etchings or engravings is a very skilled task.
Part of the charm of hand colouring, is that each print has been worked on individually by a skilled water-colourist, and while two prints may have the same overall appearance, the fine detail and brush work will, upon close inspection be found to show small differences. In effect each print you buy may be thought of as a new original!
Only the best water-colour pigments are used, providing a purity and permanence of colour appropriate to this form of art.

Ordering Your Prints |
To order your Hand Coloured Fine Art Print. You can contact me via my contacts page.
State the Title of the print and Reference number when placing your order. I will email you the same day to confirm your order and give you a delivery time.
Once I have confirmed the total to pay, you can pay by Paypal directly from my website. (If paying by UK cheque I will have to wait for funds to clear before sending your order).
Your order will be despatched within 7 working days, but in the unlikely event of a print being out of stock, I will let you know and give you an expected delivery date.
All hand coloured prints (etchings and engravings) are dispatched directly from the publisher Thomas Ross.
Prints are sent unmounted in a postal tube to avoid damage. They are sent Special delivery in the UK and Airsure/International Signed for or Fedex for overseas.
